Monday - laundry, attempted outdoor pool (forgot it was closed on Mondays) so we headed to the Cove - an indoor wave pool in Sierra Vista. We also met up with our neighbor Kent Madsen, who is the project manager on a new building (I think it will be the stake center). He was nice enough to bring Duncan's shoes and some other things we forgot at home in DayBreak. Michael went to dinner with him after they both got off work.
Here they are at the Cove:
Tuesday - more laundry, playground, avoid the heat, treadmill, cartoons, online homework - basically kind of a boring day. Sorry kids.
Wednesday - Excursion Day to Lake Patagonia. We went here to eat at the Velvet Elvis -one of Arizona's best restaurants. Of course we found out that it was closed for summer break. I also wanted to go the Lake that the company Patagonia was named after. I also wanted to hike in the Sonoita Creek State Natural Area. It is unique in that, within a relatively small area, seven distinct vegetative communities are present ranging from Semi-Desert Grasslands to Riparian Deciduous Forests. It is a fragile riparian area. Here's more on that if you are interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riparian_zone
We hiked, and swam and then fled from the monsoon thunderstorm headed our way.
Thursday - Happy 40th Birthday Michael!!!! Now this is a day we had to be super creative! We don't have an oven in our motel room. So we went to the common kitchen for a 2 hour make a cake moment. The kids made homemade cards while the cake was cooking. It took so long because it is 4 buildings away and we had no hotpads - so we had to wait for it to cool. Due to altitude, terrible oven, lacking cooking skills, the cake fell and needed a serious amount of icing to fill in the hole. M & M's were from the vending machine! Oh well. We had dinner at a Korean restaurant with several classmates from Michael's class here. It was fun to get to know all of them.
Gift from Greg - gotta love the free yogurt from the breakfast room!
Oh we also made it to the local library Mad Science event on Thursday.
Friday - Army Organization Day (whatever that means!) Basically they each signed up for some sporting event. There were bounce houses for the kids, arts and crafts (basically decorating cookies), sno cones, 3-D games box, and $3 hotdogs (which we did NOT buy). Michael played dodge ball - they made it to the semi-finals. Don't know why those pics are so blurry - must be the bad lighting, action shots or OK I stink at using my phone to take pictures.
Saturday - Because the soldiers all had to bond on Friday, they had to go to school on Saturday - so we made a long excursion - we went to Tucson (or I should say an hour north of Tucson; in the middle of nowhere to the Biosphere2). Instead of me trying to explain it all - here is the link: http://www.b2science.org/. I thought it was SOOOOO cool and worth the drive in 110 degrees. We went through 4 or 5 large drinks each. I thought 3 water bottles and 2 circle K stops would be plenty - but we were out of liquid by the time we got "home". Duncan's fav. part of the biosphere was the part where rainforest was located (mine too - it was like my mission). Timon's favorite part was the lung that controlled air and helped with atmosphere.

Some of you have asked about our day to day life. Here is where we eat:
Outside near our "hotel room" and on the floor of our entry to our room.
