Governor's Day at Camp Williams

9/18/2011 - SALT LAKE CITY -- As part of the 58th annual Governor's Day celebration, approximately 5,000 Utah Air and Army National Guardsmen marched in a pass-and-review parade before the commander in chief of the Utah National Guard, Governor Gary R. Herbert, at Camp Williams September 17. 

Alongside the Adjutant General of Utah, Maj. Gen. Brian L. Tarbet, Herbert conducted an official review of troops atop a chauffeured Army Humvee, as Utah Guardsmen stood in formation across the breadth of the field.

In his speech to the National Guardsmen, Herbert verbally saluted them, thanked them for their service, and acknowledged them for their contributions.

Ty's Field Trip to This Is The Place

You know it is pretty cool that Ty gets to go to a Church History/Utah History site for a field trip.  Kids in CT would kill for this (that was for you Afton!)  It really was a great field trip!

Healing Fields

I always am looking for something to commemorate Sept. 11th.  This year the pentagon released all the confidential pictures and I was able to show my kids my path of leaving the scene.  They were old enough to understand how protected I was.  Ty liked knowing that he made the long trek with me as a 7 weeker inside me.  So my sister told me about the healing fields where there is a flag for every person who lost their life in the attacks.  It was good to see the sheer magnitude of how many people died that day.  It gave my kids a good perspective.  Each flag is labeled with as much information as they could gain about the person.  Sept. 11th was on a Monday this year and we were able to go as our Family Home Evening.

They also had a flag for every country that lost someone as well.

Just how grateful I am to be here and have my 2 boys!
